REPAIRS NEEDED TO 135 YEAR OLD SHERIFF'S OFFICE

When you own an historic building registered with the federal government, there are certain steps you have to take to protect it.  That’s what Henry County Commissioners are dealing with, in plans for repairs to the sheriff’s office facility, built in 1882.  The chimney is crumbling and needs to be replaced; but it must be restored as close to the original look as possible.   Before that project can be tackled, an application for appropriateness must be filed with the local Preservation Commission in Napoleon.  They will meet on the matter next Tuesday, October 17th.

It’s believed the historic sheriff’s office building was constructed about the same time as the Henry County Courthouse in Napoleon, about 135 years ago.
