PAULDING COUNTY MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN NEVADA

The prime suspect in a Paulding County murder has been apprehended in Nevada following a traffic stop by local law officers.   The arrest took place in Elko County, Nevada around 11:30am this (Tues.)  morning, when Matthew Dempsey was stopped for a moving violation.  There was a brief stand-off with Dempsey in possession of a 22 caliber long rifle.  The suspect eventually surrendered, and was taken into custody.   He is currently incarcerated in Elko County, Nevada, awaiting extradition.

The coroner’s report is also in for the victim of the murder, Gina Mann; who died of multiple gunshot wounds, reports Paulding County Coroner Dr. Joseph Kuhn.               Those gunshot wounds were not evident at the time her body was recovered, reports Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers, because the body was wrapped in a blanket.  To preserve forensic evidence when the body was recovered, the blanket and body were not disturbed, allowing the medical examiners to do their work.                No timeline has been set for Matthew Dempsey’s return to northwest Ohio from Nevada.
