DOLLAR GENERAL WINS APPEAL, TO LEASE FORMER FAMILY VIDEO BUILDING

A vacant downtown Napoleon storefront will likely have a new tenant.Following a favorable decision to the Napoleon Board of Zoning Appeals Tuesday night, Dollar General is expected to add a second store in the former Family Video building.Dollar General’s original request for the property was turned down because Napoleon’s zoning code did not allow a grocery store in a downtown general commercial zone. But by a 3-0 vote, the Napoleon Board of Zoning Appeals reversed that ruling, which will allow Dollar General to move forward with the lease. The former Family Video store has about 5,600 square feet of space, and is located at 125 West Clinton Street.

Dollar General has over 15,000 stores across the U.S.; and opened for business in 1939.
