Lady Gaga Kisses Married Band Member On Stage During Las Vegas Show

The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion - Street Sightings

Lady Gaga got carried away during a Las Vegas residency show this weekend when she locked lips with her trumpet player, Brian Newman — who happens to be married.

It's true. According to fan-shot video footage from the "Alejandro" star "Enigma" concert show on Saturday (June 15), Gaga can be seen holding hands with Newman as she serenades the musician with the lyrics, "Darling, kiss me." The pair, gazing into each other's eyes, then decide to go for — planting a brief smooch on each other, sending the crowd into a fit of cheers and applause.

Naturally, fans were divided on the surprising moment, as Newman is, indeed, still committed to his wife Angie Pontani.

"I know they are friends since.... Forever. But Christ's sake, he es [sic] married!!! GAGA should behave better," one user tweeted in response. Another argued that, "If you pay close attention she didn't kiss him. He puckered but she didn't. She smiled into it."

Others out-right defended Gaga's performative kiss, like this user: "It’s just a show! She knows how to work it! It’s called acting....married people kiss others all the time in movies, plays, shows, etc. move on!"

Still, hecklers couldn't help but draw comparisons to Gaga's infamously intimate performance at the Oscars with A Star Is Born castmate Bradley Cooper, who at the time was with longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk. The presentation sparked rumors of a romance between the co-stars and caused many to speculate Gaga was the core of the couple's recent breakup.

In an effort to clear the air, an insider told Us Weekly the stunt was merely for fun. “There is nothing to see here. Gaga is a performer, and it was a playful, harmless part of her act," the source said, adding, "She and Brian have had an incredible friendship for years and see each other as family.”

Gaga's lip-locking performance comes weeks after the A Star Is Born actress officially broke her silence on splitting with ex-fiance Christian Carino during a previous "Enigma" show. “So, last time I sang this song, I had a ring on my finger," Gaga said as she flashed her ring-less finger at the audience, "So tonight will be different."
