COMPANY LOOKING TO BUILD SOLAR ARRAY IN DEFIANCE COUNTY

Paulding and VanWert County have their wind turbines, and now a company is looking to develop a solar array in Defiance County.A representative from Savion met with Defiance County Commissioners to talk about their plan to put-up a 250 to 500 acre solar array in Mark Township. The location is on agricultural property near a 60,000 kilowatt transmission line owned by AEP energy. And they have an option to lease or buy from 3 to 5 land-owners in that area of the county. The representative has talked with Defiance County economic development about business incentives, and also met with Mark Township Trustees regarding permitting. The project would not create many jobs other than the construction, which would likely take from 5 to 6 months to complete. But it does create a renewable energy source.
