When you expand, there can be growing pains. The village of Delta is seeing tremendous growth in their industrial corridor again, and as a result, have hit the 80% mark for their water plant production, which is 1 million gallons per day. That triggered the Ohio EPA to alert Delta to begin looking at alternative sources of water, if more growth comes to the community. The options include a 4-million dollar upgrade of their current water production plant, or spending a half-million dollars to tap into the current Fulton County Water system, which is supplied by Toledo. The village of Delta has asked Fulton County Commissioners, if they can join the county water system, to supplement their village system. The link to that Fulton County water system is less than a mile away. Delta is also looking at this option as another alternative water supply if an emergency would happen at their current village plant. One of the reasons for the expanding water needs in Delta, is the under-production Nova Tube and Steel plant on the northwest side of the village. They have completed site work, and the next step is the foundation for their structure, which should create another 100 new jobs when they open sometime next year, on a 67-acre parcel.
In other action, the Fulton County Commissioners approved a contract with Gerken Paving of rural Napoleon, to tackle their road resurfacing work this year, with a price-tag of about 4.3 million dollars.
