NAPOLEON COUNCIL APPROVES FIRE/RESCUE CONTRACTS

The third and final reading on a new contract to provide fire and rescue service for townships around Napoleon was approved at city council Monday night. The contract each year is based on the previous year runs; and 2021 was a record year for total rescue and fire runs for Napoleon’s Department.

The contract for the VanHyning interceptor sewer project was awarded to the Vern Nagel Company at about 2.7 million dollars.                        It looks like a rebid is needed for the Ritter Park Path project, with grant dollars paying for a big chunk of the new sidewalks along Riverview and Jahns Road.                 Napoleon Council approved the plans and specs for this year’s street resurfacing program, estimated at $500,000. The new paving will include Westmoreland, Independence Road, and sections of Woodlawn, Bales, and American Road.

There were no objections filed for liquor permit renewals for establishments in Napoleon, so those were approved.

And Napoleon is planning on an Arbor Day celebration this Saturday at East Riverdowns Park, where a tree will be planted in a ceremony at 10am.
