Leave it to Beyoncé celebrate the 20thanniversary of Destiny’s Child AND slay Coachella in one fell swoop. She got the band back together for a special set during her headlining set at the desert show that DJ Khaled renamed BeyChella.
Bey’s set featured a marching band and a hundred dancers. She paid tribute the Historically Black Colleges and Universities – also known as HBCUs – and sang the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice” before going into “Freedom.” Think a probate, step show, and homecoming all wrapped in one.
Mrs. Carter’s husband, Jay-Z, joined her on “Déjà Vu,” and her sister, Solange, was on-hand to dance on “Get Me Bodied.” But one of the many highlights was when Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland came out to do “Lose My Breath,” “Say My Name,” and “Soldier.” The last time the ladies were together was at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
- While the Bey’s performance was truly epic, it didn’t go off without a hitch. She suffered a couple of wardrobe malfunctions – once during the Destiny’s Child set and one during her dance battle with Solange.
I had the feeling all week long that it was going to be can't miss stuff this weekend from Beyoncé. These artists always bring their A-game to festival season. Awesome for fans that couldn't be there to stream the performance.....Even if it started after 2 on the east coast.-Josh
