So I've said this before, 2018 is the year of Marvel. "Black Panther" drew crazy numbers through the winter. "Avengers: Infinity War" was the biggest draw of 2018. Now, we move on to "Ant-Man and the Wasp" for the summer. Is "Ant-Man and the Wasp" the event of "Black panther" caliber? No. It was never going to be. Was it the most anticipated Marvel movie ever like, "Avengers: Infinity War?" Of course not.
It's just suppose to be the next chapter in the MCU and a fun summer draw. I did sadly, clock in as the fifth lowest marvel release ever. It beat "Ant-Man," "Thor," "Captain America: The First Avenger," and "The Incredible Hulk." It grossed $20 more million than the first, "Ant-Man." At the end of the day, it leaves me with two questions.
Is Interest just not there for Ant-Man? Or is it possible for the first time in years, are people just Marveled out? I doubt that's the case. Maybe people just weren't ready for another release after 2 and 1/2 months?
Here's your top five from the weekend:
1. "Ant-Man and the Wasp"-$76.0 Million
2 "Incredibles 2"- $29.0 million
3. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 2"- $28.5 Million
4. "The First Purge"- $17.1 Million
5. "Sicario: Day of the Soldado"-$7.3 million
