An increase of about 590 vehicle titles was reported at the Defiance County Clerk of Courts office in July.Clerk Amy Galbraith reports there were titles issued for nearly 2,800 vehicles last month.New car titles jumped from 102 to 120 in the monthly comparison; and new truck titles surged from 56 to 114.There was a sizeable drop in van titles for July, falling from 34 to 18, and motorcycle titles were also down by about 14.But a huge upswing was reported in travel trailer titles, from 25 to 46, and slight decline in watercraft titles in Defiance County.Galbraith reports the main factor in the nearly 600-vehicle increase in titles is that the Jim Schmidt dealerships now file titles and pay sales tax in Defiance County.
