If you’re in Houston, you’re in luck. That’s because Domino's and Nuro have teamed up to provide autonomous “robot” pizza delivery there. Starting this week, a select number of folks placing a prepaid order on dominos.com through the Woodland Heights location can choose to have their pizza delivered ty the Nuro R2 robot.
The R2 is the first totally autonomous, occupantless on-road delivery vehicle that has been approved by the US Department of Transportation. If selected, you’ll receive text alerts updating the R2 location and also get a unique PIN to grab your order from the robot.
Basically, the vehicle pulls up, you enter the PIN and retrieve your food. Obviously, if the test goes well, we’re likely to see this kind of service expand across the country. Are you ready for living like the Jetsons?!
