DEFIANCE COUNCIL APPROVES ANNEXING ANOTHER 104 ACRES ON NORTH SIDE OF CITY

The city of Defiance is working toward annexing another sizeable tract of land on the north side for future development.Defiance City Council approved first reading on the annexation of the Fortman property at 104 acres, located along Elliot Road, stretching to Carpenter Road.

Defiance Council approved an application in the ‘safe routes to schools’ grant program, seeking $400,000 to make improvements to the sidewalk along South Clinton Street.The project would upgrade the sidewalk leading to the park on the south edge of Defiance, and the school in that neighborhood.These dollars will help provide more safety for children travelling on bikes, or as pedestrians.

And council approved the purchase of a small parcel of land along Ottawa Avenue to extend the sidewalk to the new Eastside Park in Defiance.
