Jessica Simpson has been very vocal and honest about her journey with sobriety and will even mark seven years since she's "wanted or touched alcohol" later this year. Now, unfounded theories that she has been drinking have caused her to speak out on her own behalf and slam the "misunderstood" claims.

On Monday (August 5), the Newlyweds alum shared a photo on Instagram celebrating her son Ace Johnson's 11th birthday, sweetly "braggin'" that she has "the kindest, most handsome 11yr old son on the planet." However, one commenter decided that was their chance to tell Simpson that she needed to "stop drinking," per E! News. Simpson saw the remark and hit back, taking the high road and thanking the commenter for their "concern."

"I haven't wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I've made for myself and for my family," she responded. "Thank you for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way."

Last year, the "With You" singer marked six years of sobriety by sharing an "unrecognizable" photo of herself from before she decided to stop drinking, writing that she knew she would "allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity."

In addition to Ace, Simpson is also mom to daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, all of whom she shares with husband Eric Johnson. The proud mom previously shared how her oldest daughter taught her about her "inner glow."
