#MUSIC: Barack Obama shares playlist ahead of new book

Former President Barack Obama’s new book “The Promised Land” comes out today, and in honor of the occasion he’s dropping a new playlist of songs.

“Music has always played an important role in my life—and that was especially true during my presidency,” he shares on social media. “In honor of my book hitting shelves tomorrow, I put together this playlist featuring some memorable songs from my administration. Hope you enjoy it.”

Bruce Springsteen is one of the artists on the playlist, but his classic, “The Promised Land,” didn’t make the cut; instead Obama chose “The Rising.”

Other songs on the list include: Aretha Franklin’s “The Weight,” Brooks & Dunn’s “Only In America,” Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” Beyoncé’s “Halo,” Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” Jay-Z’s “My 1st Song,” The Beatles’ “Michelle,” U2’s “Beautiful Day” and more.
